ADELAIDE INTERNATIONAL KELLS ROAD RACES 2009.
In the Kings Hall Belfast at the Adelaide Motorcycle Festival Kells & District Motorcycle Racing Club launched the 2009 Adelaide International Kells Road Races which will be held on the weekend of 17th – 19th July.
Mr. Jarlath Flanagan, Kells Town Clerk accompanied by Mr. Brian Collins, Chairman of Kells Town Council , Councillors Bryan Reilly, Tommy Grimes, Conor Ferguson, Ao Farrelly, Ollie Sweeney, Brendan McGrath (Meath Co. Council) and Mr. Michael Finnegan Road Safety Officer Meath Co. Council went to Ballymena following an invitation from the Council and Mr. Sam Geddis , Adelaide Insurance. The group also met up in Ballymena with Garda Supt. Ken Brennan, Sgt. Damien Crummy , Sgt. Brian Morrissey and Sgt Brendan Goodison. Insp. Gary McComb PSNI also joined the group . Following the official greeting the group headed to the Kings Hall in Belfast for the official opening of the show.
The Kells to Kells Rideout was officially launched for the Ireland Air Ambulance and the Mayor of Ballymena and Chairman of Kells Town Council together with Conor Ferguson addressed the crowd and welcomed them all to come to Kells in July for the Road Races.
On Sat. 14th the official launch of the Kells Races took place with guest riders John McGuinness, Steve Plater, Keith Amor, Michael Pearson, William Dunlop, Paul Gartland, John Burrows, Philip McCallen, and Alastair Seeley joining Club Members Aileen Ferguson, Emma Ferguson, Tony Lynch, Pat Flood, Lester Ferguson with Sam Geddis and Nichola Pearce, Neil Jarvis on stage for the launch.
When interviewed by George McCann about taking part in Kells this year John McGuinness said “Don’t rule me out for Kells this year, I have been watching the DVD and it looks like a very good track “. Keith Amor said he was looking forward to racing once more in Kells as he really enjoyed 2008. Steve Plater told George McCann “ I cannot do Kells this year but I have been looking at the TV footage and don’t rule me out either for the future".
All the road race fans present left happy in the knowledge that already with Farquhar, Amor, Archibald, Pearson, Lougher, Stephen Thomson and Guy Martin already committed to Kells this year it is shaping up to be a cracker of an event.
To help Celebrate the 15th Anniversary the club will be holding some exhibition laps and those taking part include James Courtney, Eugene Laverty, Philip McCallen, Raymond Porter to name abut a few. SO LOTS TO SEE AT KELLS IN JULY.

The Official Press launch of the 2009 Adelaide International Kells Road Races will take place once again in McKeon Motors Bective Street, Kells on Saturday 28th March. Special guests on the night will be Michael and William Dunlop, Michael Pearson, Keith Amor and Ryan Farquhar.
At the Motorbike and Scooter Show in the RDS Dublin the Kells Club have a stand to help promote the event in July. Special guests on the stand will be GUY MARTIN and KEITH AMOR on Friday 27th and Sat 28th Feb. So stop by and have a chat with Guy and Keith and the Kells Club members.
