This years Kells Road Race Festival will have the backing from adelaideinsurance.com. It goes without saying, that the Kells Road races are without doubt probably the most popular of the national road races with both the spectator and Competitiors.
This year, the races will be televised to a wider audience, with more television coverage. More safety features will be noticeable at the event, take for example, the first road end, the house facing the road has now been demolished, and a new one is being built, albeit further back, for spectators, there will unfortunately be more prohibited areas, the most noticeable, being just after the last jump.
Already negotiations have taken place with top riders, and others still have to be contacted. Last year, there was a phenomenal entry, which included the whos who of Irish road racing, Aussie Cameron Donald, 600 TT lap record holder, Guy Martin, Ryan Farquhar, Martin Finnegan, Adrian Archibald, etc but to name a few. No doubt, the Kells club will be looking to build on this type of entry.
Looking ahead, the race week programme looks like this, on the Friday night (18th July), the ever popular Charity Classic Run will take place, whilst on Saturday, it is hoped to run all practices AND two races. , whilst on Sunday, there is a 12 race programme scheldued. It must also be noted, that unlike the past few years, the Support riders may only be getting one race each!, as it is planned to run two 600 races!, so Support riders, you cant say you haven't been warned. ( in other words, get your entry in early!) Newcomers.
